DO SOMETHING SPOTLIGHT ON CBTP VOLUNTEER GINO RIINA

Seated at a cluttered bench in the lab, Gino Riina, a 20-year-old student at St. John’s University, shines bright as one of our most dedicated volunteers since the inception of the Children’s Brain Tumor Project research initiative. Since the autumn of 2022, Gino has been a steadfast presence in the lab, generously offering his time and skills at least once a week. His enthusiasm for the cause is palpable, driven by a deep-seated desire to explore the opportunities that lie ahead for him, while contributing to something greater than himself.

Gino found the cutting-edge research environment to be welcoming. Currently pursuing a Biology major with a minor in Chemistry at St. John’s University in Queens, Gino’s academic pursuits align well with his passion for scientific discovery. However, his aspirations extend far beyond the classroom walls. Looking ahead, Gino envisions a future in the medical field or perhaps even pursuing a Ph.D, driven by the hope of making a tangible difference in the lives of others.

Gino’s invaluable contributions to the Children’s Brain Tumor Project reminds our team of the profound impact that any individual can have on shaping the future of healthcare and research if they have the wherewithal and dedication that he has. Gino is doing something, and we are grateful.
