CBTP MARATHON TEAM RAISES $98,000

TEAM CBTP FOUNDATION BREAKS FUNDRAISING RECORD

Fifteen incredible runners took on all 26.2 miles of the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon in support of pediatric brain tumor research—and made history for the Children’s Brain Tumor Project in the process.

This year’s team raised more than $98,000, setting a new record for our organization since we first became an official charity partner of the TCS NYC Marathon in 2018. Their effort surpassed previous years’ totals—typically between $70,000 and $85,000—and reflects the growing community of runners, donors, and families united in the fight against pediatric brain tumors.

From seasoned marathoners to first-time runners, Team CBTP came together with one goal: to fund lifesaving research for children with brain tumors, the leading cause of cancer-related death in kids under 18. The fundraising success of our runners can be attributed to the commitment of both new and returning runners who are determined to make a difference for children battling brain tumors.

This was much more than 26.2 miles. This was an opportunity to do something good after one of my students was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 12. I knew I needed to do something after witnessing how difficult treatment has been for her and her family. Joining the marathon team gave me purpose and a beautiful distraction from how ugly times are right now. At this moment in time, I couldn’t need this more. — TYLER

I ran for my niece Gabriella, and for all the kids and families affected by pediatric brian tumors. Gabriella was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma at 21 months old. Thanks to the extraordinary team at Weill Cornell and her incredible surgeon, Dr. Mark Souweidane, Gabriella is with us today and has received the best possible care since her surgery. — ERIN

These rare and inoperable brain tumors are monsters and no parent or child should have to go through pain like this. I am running to do something to help give these kids a chance for a cure and most importantly hope for these families. — HEATHER

Our entire lab team is deeply grateful for every runner, donor, volunteer, and supporter who made this year’s marathon success possible. Together, their efforts not only broke fundraising records but also strengthened a growing movement of hope and action for children and families affected by brain tumors.

Thank you, Team CBTP, for running with heart and helping drive discovery forward.
